Case status labels can be confusing and may vary by county. If you see CAPIAS, that generally means a warrant has been issued and you should call us immediately before taking action. If a case is sealed, it likely will not appear in a public case lookup. When the status is unclear, do not guess — speak with counsel before making decisions.

How do I find the next court date?

Look for an entry on the docket called 'Notice of Hearing,' 'Calendar Call,' 'Pretrial Conference,' or similar. The hearing date is usually listed in the entry. If you can't tell, an attorney or the clerk can confirm.

Why don't I see any documents?

Some clerk portals require a free registered account to view document images, and certain documents (juvenile, sealed, confidential) are not publicly viewable.

The information is wrong — what do I do?

Errors on a clerk record do happen. They generally must be corrected through a court filing, not a phone call. An attorney can help identify the right motion.

Search criminal and traffic court records by name or case number using each county's official clerk of court portal.

Florida court records are public. Each county clerk maintains its own searchable system, with hearings, filings, dispositions, and case parties. The docket is the running list of everything filed in a case — motions, notices of hearing, orders, and dispositions — usually shown newest first. Because each clerk builds its own portal, search behavior varies: some accept partial names, some require a case or citation number, and some ask for a free registered account before showing document images. Sealed, confidential, and juvenile records will not appear in public results, and very recent filings can take a business day or two to post. If you cannot find a case, try searching by the last name only, by an alternate spelling, or by citation number when you have one.
